Review of AccuPOS Point of Sale Systems
by Attitude Positive, Inc.
Hello,
We thought it would be helpful to other persons who are considering purchase of a POS to tell them of our experiences working with AccuPOS Point of Sale Systems by Attitude Positive, Inc.
In a word, terrible.
We selected AccuPOS Point of Sale Systems by Attitude Positive mainly based on price. Their equipment seemed to be what we wanted, they had packages of equipment that suited our need, and the sales person seemed very helpful. They claimed their system was extremely easy to set up and they had telephone support. We bought into their sales spiel and ordered about $10k worth of equipment.
As we were newbies in purchasing and setting up a POS, we depended on AccuPOS for advice and assistance. The sales person assured us that AccuPOS would “hold our hand” throughout the setup and implementation.
He forgot to tell us that we needed a MCC account before setting up their system (I said we were newbies). We acquired a MCC is a big rush through a company associated with AccuPOS and AccuPOS claimed they had a special rate just for their customers. What they didn’t tell us is that the “special” rate was about 3 times what our bank would have charged for a MCC. We didn’t know any better.
Installation of their system was a ton of fun. They told us “hook up all the equipment items, and call us… in 20 minutes we will have it all running”. It turned out to be more like 20 days.
Well, we hooked up all the equipment and, per their recommendations, called for telephone tech support. They have a system in which they “take over” your computer and install software and hook up all the equipment. Our equipment consisted on a back office computer, three POS stations with cash drawers and printers, and two kitchen printers. Not that much stuff really.
The first technician took about 4 hours by phone to try and set up the system. He downloaded software into our POS stations and back office computer. He networked and did all sorts of software tweaks to our equipment, none of which we understood. He claimed to get it all setup and went off shift, leaving it with us. Guess what - instant problems: POS stations went down, printers stopped printing, and the POS was useless. Oh, and it was a Friday afternoon. Their tech support stopped and there was no support over the weekend. So, we were dead in the water until Monday morning. And, come Monday morning the telephone queue was instantly full at 8 AM when they opened, so it was late in the morning before they could get to us.
Over the next week, we worked with three different technicians. We tried to escalate the problem and found out there was no way to escalate. You had to work through their first and only line of tech support. All three technicians had different ways to set up the POS. All three downloaded software. Finally, the senior technician admitted the first technician had done something wrong and even had downloaded outdated software. He finally got the system working. It still failed from time to time. Between phone calls to their “tech support” and our own “messing around with it” we were able to get it going.
They told us to download manuals from online – these would help us with both the installation and set up. Wrong. We downloaded and printed every manual we could find. The manuals were hard to understand and didn’t address what we needed. Waste of ink and paper.
Our restaurant failed due to issues relating to the building and lack of landlord repairs. AccuPOS did not cause our failure.
Oh, they do not buy back equipment. And, there is no aftermarket for their equipment. Once you buy it, you are stuck with it. We didn’t find that out until after the restaurant was shut down. They didn’t mention that upfront.
Ok, we were newbies. This was an interesting learning experience. When we do this again, we will definitely not consider AccuPOS Point of Sales Systems by Attitude Positive.
